Core message

Coincidence, guesswork, or revelation from God?

All prophets warned of a coming Hour when humanity will be resurrected and judged.

Matthew 24:36
“No one knows the day or hour except the Father.”
Qur’an 31:34
“Indeed, Allah alone has knowledge of the Hour.”
The messenger behind the prophecies

Who was Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

If you are going to examine his prophecies, then it is only fair to examine the man himself. Who was he before he claimed prophethood? What happened after revelation began? And what best explains his life: deception, delusion, or truth?

Before prophethood

Known as Al-Ameen — the trustworthy

Muhammad ﷺ was born in Makkah into the respected tribe of Bani Hashim. He lived among his people for decades before revelation came to him, so his character was public and well known.

Even in a society full of tribal loyalties, the people of Makkah trusted him so widely that they gave him the title Al-Ameen“The Trustworthy”.

He was known for honesty in speech, trustworthiness in dealings, and concern for the poor, widows, orphans, elderly, and downtrodden. He was not known as a habitual liar, a man chasing fame, or a fraud looking for influence.

He was not known as a poet chasing applause, a philosopher building a school, or a ruler trying to gather a throne. He lived a clear, public, observable life among his people long before he ever claimed revelation.

This matters because when a man later claims to speak for God, his earlier life becomes part of the evidence. Was he already known as a liar? In Muhammad’s case, the opposite was true.

After prophethood

At 40, he challenged his whole society

At around the age of forty, Muhammad ﷺ began calling people to worship Allah alone and abandon idols, superstition, and corrupted religion. This was not a safe or profitable message in Makkah — it directly challenged the beliefs and power structure of his society.

The Quraysh tried to stop him with offers of wealth, status, and leadership if only he would compromise. He refused. When bribery failed, they turned to insult, boycott, pressure, violence, and plots to silence him.

His followers were persecuted. Some had to flee. He himself was forced to leave Makkah. If he were inventing the claim for worldly gain, his life took the opposite path of what a deceiver would normally want.

Even after success came, he remained humble. He did not present himself as a god, nor ask people to worship him. He lived simply, forgave greatly, worshipped deeply, and stayed firm on the same message until his death.

A serious question

How should we explain his claim?

If a man claims to be God’s messenger, warns of the unseen, and speaks about the end of the world, there are only a few real possibilities. Was he lying? Was he deluded? Or was he truthful?

Was he lying?

A liar usually lies to gain something: money, status, women, influence, safety, or admiration. But Muhammad ﷺ rejected the offers made to him, attacked the false beliefs of his own people, endured persecution, and accepted hardship instead of comfort. That does not read like the profile of a fraud cashing in on a story.

Was he deluded or mad?

A deluded man often grabs at anything that appears to support his claim. Yet when his infant son Ibrahim died and a solar eclipse happened, some people linked the eclipse to his grief. He immediately corrected them and said the sun and moon are signs of God and are not eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone. That is not the behaviour of a man intoxicated by ego or delusion.

Or was he truthful?

He was known as truthful before prophethood. He remained consistent after prophethood. He refused compromise when bribed, stayed firm under persecution, corrected false praise, lived simply, and delivered a coherent message over more than twenty years. The most reasonable conclusion is that he was what he said he was: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

What follows from this?

If he was truthful, then his warning about the Hour matters.

Muhammad ﷺ was not inviting people to admire him. He was calling them back to their Creator, warning them about judgment, and urging them to prepare for what comes after death.

So the real question is no longer just, “Did he make predictions?” It becomes, “What will I do if he really was the final messenger from God?”

Option 1: He was lying
Option 2: He was deluded
Option 3: He was truthful and this was revelation from God

Islam invites you to investigate the evidence, examine the life of Muhammad ﷺ, and read the Qur’an for yourself.
